Description
Many of you will be aware that this summer sees a major Defra consultation on Noise Actions Plans for England, as required under the Environmental Noise Directive 2002-49. The IOA is keen to make a constructive contribution to all consultations relating to acoustics and this is probably the most important consultation for many years in shaping future environmental noise policy in England. The half day workshop will provide you with an understanding of the draft Noise Action Plans for Agglomerations, Major Roads and Major Railways, making sure you are right up to date with current thinking. The separate airport draft Noise Action Plans will also be discussed. The workshop will provide you with an opportunity to put forward comments and ideas both on the general principals of the Plans and on issues that concern your local area - Will Quiet Areas be adequately protected? Do the Plans give enough action on your noise ‘hot spots’? etc. This is an opportunity for you to contribute to shaping the Noise Actions Plans that will affect environmental noise policy for years to come.
The workshops are being organised by the IOA’s Environmental Noise Group, whose committee will be collating the outputs from other workshops being held by IOA local Branches, and suggestions from individual members, into the formal IOA response that will influence Defra’s deliberations on the final form of the Noise Actions Plans for England.
The Defra consultation documents can be downloaded from: http://www.defra.gov.uk/environment/noise/mapping/action-plans.htm
