Certificate of Competence Workplace Noise Risk Assessment

This Certificate course aims to provide a recognised course of education and training to enable persons to carry out workplace noise assessments in a competent manner, as required by the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005. Since the course was first run in 1989, more than 2000 people have gained the Certificate. With the introduction of the new Regulations in 2005, demand for competent noise exposure assessments is increasing and this course provides those registering with the latest information and training to meet the demands of this new legislation.

The Central Branch was established towards the end of 2005 to provide a programme of meetings and a forum for IOA members in the Herts/Beds/Bucks and surrounding areas.

We aim to hold evening meetings during most, if not all, months of the year on subjects of interest and everyone is warmly welcomed to our meeting venues (non members as well as members) usually at NHBC in Milton Keynes or Bruel & Kjaer in Stevenage.

Council

Council is the governing body of the Institute and meets four times a year. Council comprises the members of Executive committee, three Vice Presidents (Groups Branches, International Affairs and Engineering Division) and nine elected ordinary members. In addition, there are two young members’ representatives who serve overlapping two year terms. The chairmen of the committees are also invited to attend Council meetings to provide reports of their areas of activity. The period of time that anyone can serve on Council is limited and elections take place at the Annual General Meeting.
