 m\n \n &nbsp\;\n \n In 2017 the EPSRC funded a sta
 ndard Network grant to create the UK Acoustics Net
 work (UKAN\, www.acoustics.ac.uk) with the explici
 t aim of pulling together the formerly disparate a
 nd disjointed research acoustics community in the 
 UK\, across both industry and academia. UKAN has b
 een remarkably successful. It has grown to a membe
 rship of over 1000 in a very short period of time.
  It has organised or supported over 100 networking
 \, training and outreach events attended by thousa
 nds. In 2020 EPSRC funded&nbsp\; UK Acoustics Netw
 ork Plus (UKAN+) grant which will take this commun
 ity to the next stage\, connect this Network more 
 widely and contribute through coordinated research
  to the solution of Grand Challenges set by govern
 ment.\n \n This talk will give some insight into t
 he history of UKAN\, its structure\, relation with
  the IOA and its future research aspirations.\n \n
