 in Architectural Design&rsquo\; which traces the i
 nfluence of the theatres of Classical Greece on su
 bsequent designs and goes on to discuss the resear
 ch of Sabine and his successors and their contribu
 tion to the design of concert halls of the 20th&nb
 sp\;and 21st&nbsp\;centuries\, a number of which h
 ave been visited by members of the Institute durin
 g the conference series on Auditorium Acoustics. T
 he book also describes the development of acoustic
  guidelines for schools and gives examples of othe
 r building types such as worship spaces\, law cour
 ts\, transportation buildings &nbsp\;and a planeta
 rium.\n \n The talk will present key parts of the 
 book and will be generously illustrated with proje
 cts examples. It will be of interest to members wa
 nting an overview of the development of architectu
 ral acoustics &ndash\; where it has failed and whe
