These drew together people from both communities to discuss the developments in both fields and to establish where there are common areas of interes t and where cross-fertilization may prove benefici al.\n \n Traditional Sonar and Radar both emerged during the early parts of the 20th century and it was recognised there were many areas of common int erest. These include\; detection\, classification\ , localisation and tracking of targets against a b ackground of reverberation\, noise or clutter\, us ing either acoustic or electromagnetic energy.\n \ n Over the past few decades there have been signif icant advances in both domains in the use of synth etic aperture imaging techniques &ndash\; in radar for high resolution imaging from aircraft and sat ellites\, for defence surveillance purposes\, for geophysical and oceanographic remote sensing and f or environmental monitoring. In Sonar it has been applied in high resolution imaging of objects on t he seabed (including clutter) for the offshore ind ustry and maritime mine countermeasures.\n \n Desp ite these common goals there had previously been v ery little cross-fertilization between the two com munities and the first three IOA conferences on th is topic were held in order to try and address thi s. \;\n \n The aim of this 2 ½\; day con ference is to build on the success of the previous conferences and provide a forum for comparison of systems techniques\, signal and image processing\ , experimental results and to stimulate new ideas in each domain.\n \n Particular topics of interest for conference are\, but not restricted to:\n \n &bull\; Synthetic Aperture from Autonomous vehicle s ( AUVs and UAVs)\n \n &bull\; Processing schemes and algorithms\n \n &bull\; Image registration\, fusion and reconstruction\n \n &bull\; Automated a nd computer aided target recognition\, Computer ai ded detection and classification\n \n &bull\; Inte rferometry and differential interferometry\n \n &b ull\; Change detection\n \n &bull\; Compressed sen sing\n \n &bull\; Performance assessment\n \n &bul l\; Low frequency and UWB synthetic aperture\n \n &bull\; Bi-static\, multi-static and MIMO syntheti c aperture\n \n &bull\; Passive synthetic aperture sonar\n \n &bull\; Satellite synthetic aperture r adar\n \n &bull\; Motion compensation\, navigation and autofocus\n \n &bull\; Spotlight and squint m ode\n \n &bull\; Propagation effects\n \n Prospect ive authors are invited to submit a title and sing le page abstract to linda.canty@ioa.org.uk by 3 Fe bruary 2023.\n \n Authors will be notified by 3 Ma rch 2023 and invited to submit a full paper by 3 J uly 2023.\n \n Papers will be refereed. Completed papers may be up to 8 pages long\, including diagr ams and must be prepared in the correct electronic format.
