Consultation Workshop: The Future Homes Standard: Changes to Part L and Part F of the Building Regulations for New Dwellings

The Government and currently consulting on changes to the Building Regulations. This consultation includes proposed changes to Approved Document F for (ventilation) as well as part L (consultation of fuel and power). Recent research into both ventilation and overheating has also been published. This workshop will focus on how the proposed changes could influence the acoustic design of new-dwellings with particular regard to noise standards from ventilation systems.

The workshop will be hosted by Nick Conlan from Apex Acoustics. Nick has been closely involved with the ANC working group for Acoustics Ventilation and Overheating (AVO) specifically with the section on mechanical ventilation systems. He is organising the response to the Part F and Part L consultation on behalf of the ANC, has produced several papers on noise and ventilation in dwellings and is part of the steering group for the current CIBSE led research into noise from MVHR systems.
Arrive from 6pm for the presentation which will start at 6:30pm. As usual with Central Branch meetings there will be an opportunity to continue the discussions afterwards at a local Indian restaurant. The meeting will be in the Innovation Park Visitors Centre at BRE and attendees should report there on arrival for registration. The event is free to members of the IOA, as well as to students and the public.
