Press Release

Due to continuing risks and concerns over public gatherings, the committee for the Electroacoustics Group in the Institute of Acoustics have taken the decision to plan a very different format for Reproduced Sound in 2020.  The event will occur on-line, though we will devise a program and format to continue to encourage the highly valued interactive elements of the Reproduced Sound series of annual conferences since 1984.

Contributors are encouraged to continue to propose papers, tutorials, demonstrations etc on this basis.  Nobody will be required to attend a physical conference or meeting space, with all contributions and interactions happening over remote video and audio links.  This form of interaction has become familiar with many in recent years, and particularly so in recent months.  In particular, we are seeing increasing use of various formats of remote participation being applied to conferences and seminars of various scales and styles.  We will continue to observe and learn from this maturing practice and hope very much to bring the best of what is learned to an excellent, memorable, if unconventional, Reproduced Sound 2020 event.

The event will occur on the original planned dates of 18 -19 November 2020. Some items may be scheduled in the few days before and/or after. We expect to plan presentations to allow for a range of timing formats, from the traditional 20 minutes plus 10 minutes Q&A, extending out to longer slots and interactive sessions as appropriate.

To allow this unusual format to be properly considered by potential contributors, we have extended the deadline for abstracts and proposals to FRIDAY 17 JULY 2020.  The organising committee will be meeting more often than usual to consider the contributions offered, so these are encouraged to be sent at any time from now.

18 November 2020   through   19 November 2020
