Midlands Branch Hybrid Event
Listening With Our Eyes - Exploring Soundscape Perception in Immersive Virtual Reality
Wednesday 10th December 2025, meet at 1800 for an 1830 start
The STEAMhouse, Belmont Row, Birmingham B4 7RQ and online via Zoom

This will be the Midland Branch’s Christmas lecture; mince pies and mulled wine (and apple juice) will be served from 1800.

About the talk:

When soundscape researchers say that context is everything, however loosely “context” can be defined, it is not an understatement. This talk will deliver an overview of a couple of lab studies conducted at UCL Here East Audio Lab employing immersive virtual reality simulations. A laboratory protocol for soundscape research will be discussed and some findings on the effects of various visual scenarios on soundscape perception will be shared.
