Following the postponement of the laboratory-based workshops of March 2020, the course is to be presented as 3 Webinars, at 12.00 till 14.00, to take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the week of the 26  October 2020.

Webinar 1:       Airborne vs Structure-borne sound; Equation of structure-borne sound power and the roles of source activity, and source and receiver mobility; demonstrations of measurements of mobility of simple structures; Mobility of receiver structures; heavyweight walls and floors; lightweight framed/ribbed walls and floors; demonstrations of measurements and simple calculations using characteristic values.

Webinar 2:      Structure-borne sources in buildings; basic source types and simple calculations of mobility use characteristic values; demonstrations of measurements and calculations of sample sources; Advanced methods for other engineering applications; source activity – free velocity vs blocked force. Reception plate method for equivalent single blocked force. In-situ method for precise estimations of blocked force.

Webinar 3:      Transmission of structure-borne power to sound pressure in buildings; standard calculations, and Statistical Energy Analysis for more complete descriptions. Back to reality;  good practice in measurement onsite and calculations; isolator performance and specification; case studies.

Each Webinar will finish with Q&A.

The course is free, the total number is be restricted to 50.

The delivery will be ‘Zoom’ and the host will be the Acoustics Research Unit of Liverpool University.
