Are you passionate about acoustics? Do you want to inspire the next generation of engineers?
Find out how to become a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) ambassador with a presentation from James Bennett, from STEM learning (https://www.stem.org.uk/). James will explain what STEM ambassadors do, how you can become one and inspire young persons and students to embark on a similar career as yours, leading by example.
By becoming a STEM Ambassador, you play a crucial role in shaping the future. You help students develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world. Your work not only benefits the students you inspire but also contributes to the advancement of science and technology. Through interactive workshops, engaging presentations, and hands-on activities, you bring STEM subjects to life and can mentor students. It’s also great fun, engaging and an exciting way to look at your work!
During British Science Week 2025 (BSW25), which is in early March 2025, the IOA would like to see as many acoustic professionals as possible do STEM outreach in a school near them. We are calling it Project Reverb, as we think it sounds more exciting than ‘lots of acousticians do STEM’, and because reverberation also means ‘effects that spread and affect a lot of people’.
This video explains it all. If you want to join the existing Project Reverb team, just fill in this form.
