RECORDING IN THE 1970's - THE 1970's SOUND
Philip Newell
It was a whole different environment back then, of which the equipment which is now so revered by the young was more a limiting factor than an asset. In fact, today's equipment is far superior and, had it been available in the 1970s it could have led to far better results than were actually achieved. However, using modern equipment has led to a change in the thinking, so just by using old equipment will not guarantee achieving a 1970's sound. The change in mentality has led us to a situation whereby even the old equipment, if used in modern ways, will not not lead to the 1970s sounds that are often sought after.
FRIDAY MORNING - OPTIONAL VISIT
GREEN'S MILL AND SCIENCE CENTRE
Green's Mill is a restored and working 19th century tower windmill in Nottingham. In the early 19th century it was owned and operated by the the mathematical physicist George Green (1973-1841).
