In 2017 the EPSRC funded a standard Network grant to create the UK Acoustics Network (UKAN, www.acoustics.ac.uk) with the explicit aim of pulling together the formerly disparate and disjointed research acoustics community in the UK, across both industry and academia. UKAN has been remarkably successful. It has grown to a membership of over 1000 in a very short period of time. It has organised or supported over 100 networking, training and outreach events attended by thousands. In 2020 EPSRC funded UK Acoustics Network Plus (UKAN+) grant which will take this community to the next stage, connect this Network more widely and contribute through coordinated research to the solution of Grand Challenges set by government.
This talk will give some insight into the history of UKAN, its structure, relation with the IOA and its future research aspirations.
This event is free to attend.
