About the Event:
BS ISO 12913:2014 Acoustics – Soundscapes looks at the methods of defining soundscapes, with regard to communicating across disciplines and professions with an interest in soundscapes. An interesting concept within this series of standards is the use of soundwalks to critically assess an environment. Using this approach to underpin qualitative assessment has become more and more common in planning and design.
Following on from research previously undertaken; the Eastern Branch are using some of the key methods detailed within the standards to undertake a Sound Walk around the Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) Campus, Chelmsford.
This study will involve visiting various locations around the Campus and providing feedback in the form of a questionnaire. This information will then be used to provide an assessment of the area. The results of this are to be presented in a follow-up meeting that we plan to hold towards the end of the year.
The study will require approximately 1.5 hours of walking (so please come along in comfortable footwear) and is weather dependant!
