Abstract

The talk will focus on a recent project Tiflex did in Abu Dhabi for Sea World which is the largest indoor marine park in the world for Aquatic life.

The critical challenge was to protect the Sea creatures from vibration as many are very sensitive.

If time permits, Phil will also touch on another project Eland House in London which was a challenging application.

The talk will be followed by a short Q&A session.

If anyone has any applications, issues, or questions please feel free to contact Phil at via email:- pmohan@tiflex.co.uk prior to the event.

Bio

Phil began his career in 1980 as a Hydraulic Engineer with Atlas Copco in Yorkshire. “I combined practical industry experience with academic development, studying for an HNC in Mechanical Engineering at Wakefield College over four years.

In 1990, I joined Stanley Tools to support their specialist hydraulic tooling division, before moving in 1998 to Siderise in Suffolk, a leading manufacturer and supplier of thermal and acoustic materials.

In 2002, I began a Postgraduate Diploma in Acoustics and, upon completion in 2003, became a member of the Institute of Acoustics (IOA). From 2002 to 2022, I worked with several manufacturers, delivering advanced acoustic and vibration isolation solutions across sectors ranging from generator set manufacturing, H&V through to the bus industry.

My later career increasingly focused on R&D for the construction sector, where I developed innovative material solutions while pursuing a strong commitment to sustainability. After retiring in early 2022, I returned to the industry with Tiflex—a £250 million annual turnover company who are strongly committed to sustainability. Now only working three days a week (for Tiflex) it allows me time to do voluntary work for a Children’s charity based in Suffolk called Brave Futures.

In 2025, I was delighted to be invited to join the Noise and Vibration Engineering Group within the IOA, further contributing my expertise to the advancement of the field.”
