North-West Branch: Inaugural Geoff Kerry Memorial Hybrid Meeting Tuesday 8 October 2024 University of Salford, Mediacity Campus 13:00 - 18:00
This special event will celebrate the life and contributions of Geoff Kerry, a world-renowned acoustics expert who dedicated over 58 years to Acoustics at the University of Salford. Geoff played a pivotal role in establishing Salford Acoustics as a global leader in acoustics, building its state-of-the-art test laboratories and ensuring that the centre was equipped with world-leading equipment.
In 2021 work commenced on the design and build of a national Noise Modelling System (NMS). The NMS was designed with several objectives in mind and has since been used to successfully deliver national noise maps and exposure statistics of all public roads and railways in England, Scotland and Wales.
For this Inaugural Geoff Kerry Memorial Lecture, the NMS Project Team will deliver a series of presentations charting the development of the NMS from its original project vision, the acoustics and system design research and development activities, and the delivery of Open Standard national noise model and noise exposure datasets. The team will discuss the design of the system, data sources, calculation aspects and the wider end use applications which have been embedded within the NM.
Please register here for online or in person attendance.
Following the lecture, join us for an informal social gathering at Kargo MKT in Salford Media City. A great opportunity to network with fellow acoustic professional and celibrate Geoff's life.
