About the Role

 

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior/ Principal Acoustician to join our growing team with a view to taking on Directorship and shareholding in our acoustic practice. This is an exciting opportunity for a Chartered MIOA Acoustician to lead a variety of acoustic consultancy projects across sectors including environmental noise, building acoustics, transportation, infrastructure, and planning.

 

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality technical work, managing client relationships, mentoring 3No. acousticians, and contributing to the strategic growth of the business.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage acoustic consultancy projects from inception through to completion.
  • Undertake and oversee noise and vibration assessments in accordance with relevant standards and guidance.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, environmental statements, and planning submissions.
  • Provide expert acoustic advice to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Support business development activities, including proposal preparation and tender submissions.
  • Mentor and support acousticians and contribute to team development. For this reason we would need the candidate to be office based, not remote.
  • Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and professional forums.

 

Requirements

  • Chartered Acoustician status (e.g., Member of the Institute of Acoustics or equivalent professional body).
  • Degree in Acoustics, Physics, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience within acoustic consultancy.
  • Strong technical knowledge of environmental noise, vibration, and/or building acoustics.
  • Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
  • Proven project management and client-facing experience.
  • Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
