He was an internationally respected Professor of Human Factors at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) of the University of Southampton and was universally recognised as the foremost expert in the world on human response to vibration. He died in August and Gurmail Paddan, Henrietta Howard and Ken Parsons have written his touching obituary

• On page 40, regular contributor, Philip Dunbavin, says that Technical Specification ISO/TS 12913-3:2019, Acoustics Landscapes, should be published by Christmas. Don’t expect it to be light holiday reading though – the bibliography enjoys 65 references…
