Acoustics Classification of Buildings

We spend 80 – 90 of our time indoors, making the quality of indoor environments crucial to our health and well-being. Many residents still experience high levels of disruptive noise, especially in multi-dwelling buildings. Given the increasing awareness of noise pollution’s impact on public health, integrating acoustic classifications into housing regulations could be an important step towards creating quieter, healthier living environments. This briefing note addresses the need for a more detailed acoustic classification system that  promotes higher standards of acoustic comfort.
