The 38th Reproduced Sound Conference will focus on all aspects of electroacoustics,
and will bring together practitioners, educators and students in an atmosphere with a
friendly and enthusiastic ‘buzz’, which is a hallmark of past RS conferences.

Highlights:

Tuesday 15 November - Evening Workshop - Supported by UKAN+
This year we have two presentations starting at 18:00 - 20:00 in the Frank Barnwell Suite at the Bristol Hotel.

Wednesday 16 November - Peter Barnett Memorial Award
This year the award will be presented by the IOAs President, Alistair Somerville to Glenn Leembruggen, Acoustic Directions, Australia. The presentation will be followed by the lecture "Standing on the Shoulders of Giants"
 
Wednesday 16 November  - Conference Dinner at  19:00
This year the conference buffet style meal will be held at the Mud Dock overlooking Bristol's harbourside. A short walk from the Bristol Hotel and described by a committee member as a bit "Funky" a relaxed and informal evening for everyone.
 
Thursday 17 November -  Diversity Presentaton and Discussion
Following on from last year, Mark Bailey will give an update followed by discussion.
 
All this plus two days of exceptional papers held in the Ballroom of The Bristol Hotel. We hope to see you there.
 
BUDDY SCHEME
The IOA, Early Careers Group and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Working Group has put together a Buddy Scheme for Reproduced Sound 2022. The scheme is to enable people who are not confident about attending the conference (buddies) to have a point of contact (mentor) throughout the conference. Each mentor will be grouped with two buddies. Where possible buddies and mentors will be grouped according to specialist acoustic interests, if desired. If you would like to take part in this scheme please tick the box on the registration form.
 
The Buddy Scheme is being delivered with support from the IOA Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Working Group and the Early Careers Group. The EDI Working Group is keen to hear about the experiences of IOA members and to receive any suggestions for improving EDI within the Institute. EXHIBITION

BRISTOL
Home to Banksy’s world-class street art and with the accolades of ‘World’s best culinary destination’ in the 2019 Food Trekking Awards and UNESCO City of Film in 2017, Bristol is renowned for its vibrant arts and culture scene. The city buzzes all year round from an outstanding range of independent restaurants, bars, pubs and cafés and an annual programme of events in an eclectic mix of venues and outdoor spaces. With iconic sights including Brunel’s Clifton Suspension Bridge and the historic SS Great Britain on the harbourside, Bristol’s reputation for pioneering engineering and innovation is as relevant today as it has always been. Bristol is the only UK city to be named European Green Capital (2015) and was the UK’s first cycling city. 

TRAVEL

Rail
Bristol has two mainline railway stations. Bristol Temple Meads is located in the city centre. There are several options for ongoing travel from here, including the Bristol Flyer Airport Bus, Bristol Ferry Boats that will take you to various locations around the central harbourside and many bus routes including direct buses to Clifton Village. Bristol Parkway is located north of Bristol offering close access to the University of the West of England and many business parks and industries. Bristol Parkway is an 8-minute direct train journey from Bristol Temple Meads.  
 
Bus
First Bus services run throughout Bristol and the surrounding areas. You can purchase tickets via the First Bus app or with cash on board the bus. If you're in Bristol and need help with finding bus stations and routes, the Tourist Information Centre on the ground floor of The Galleries Shopping Centre is on hand to help. You can buy day, season, and multiple journey tickets direct from them.

The Bristol Airport Flyer can transport you to Bristol airport from the city centre in approximately 35 minutes, stopping at a range of locations in and around the centre.  The A2 operates between Bristol Airport and Bristol city centre (Lewins Mead) via Bedminster every half hour between 3.30am and midnight.  

Air
Bristol Airport is the 8th largest UK airport with frequent flights from major hubs such as Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Dublin, enabling hundreds of onward connections to the Americas, Africa and Asia. Bristol Airport is a short 20 minute drive to Bristol city centre.
 
Boat
The water taxi is a great way to see the city. The boat picks up from Bristol Temple Meads station, stopping at the city centre and various points of interest across the harbourside including Brunel’s SS Great Britain. 
 
Road
The city is ideally located for road access from London, Birmingham and the rest of the UK, with the intersection of the M4 and M5 motorways located just to the north of Bristol and the M32 providing direct access to the centre. From the M4, exit at junction 19 (signpost to Bristol) and follow the M32 into the city centre. From the M5, exit at junction 18 and follow the A4 Portway (signpost to Bristol Airport). The north of the city is best accessed from junction 17 of the M5.
