A new report assesses the health benefits of having quiet areas within areas with high levels of road traffic and railway noise. The study was undertaken across European cities including Amsterdam, Copenhagen, PAris and Brussels. The work quantified  quantifying potential reductions in noise annoyance from road traffic and railway noise through increased exposure to green spaces exposure. Data used was from  the latest Environmental Noise Directive (END) mapping of agglomerations with over 100,000 adult inhabitants.  The research found that increasing access to green space for residents can reduce annoyance from road and railway noise.
