Would you like to showcase your industry to young people? Many people will know me from my years as a tech reporter on Tomorrow’s World but for the past ten years I’ve led a charity called TeenTech which helps young people understand the opportunities which are not only invisible to them but to their teachers and parents too.
Over the past ten years we’ve worked face to face with over 35,000 students, giving them insight into industries they didn’t realise existed. We can only do this with your help. We run lively, sharply focussed programmes for young people aged 8-19, helping them understand the real opportunities in contemporary industry and their own potential to be part of the fast changing digital and STEM world. 0ver 60% participants are female and our work is deliberately sited in areas where it is most needed.
We’d love volunteers working in acoustics to come and showcase their work at our events.
There are lots of different opportunities depending on the time you can commit – you might be up for being an ambassador at one of our festivals. Bristol (October 10th) and Leicester (October 24th) are coming up soon with Manchester, Surrey, South Yorkshire, Hull, Milton Keynes , London, Hampshire following.
Volunteers very much enjoy working with TeenTech and come back time and time again. We share our impact results – both on the day and longer term so you can see the difference your contribution has made. Our methodology has changed the thinking of entire schools, with senior management understanding the value of helping students develop core skills such as creativity, teamwork, communication, collaboration and resilience especially when supported by people from industry.
Do get in touch with us if you’d like to participate in proven programmes with real impact.
