ACOUSTIC CONSULTANT

SPECTRUM ACOUSTIC CONSULTANTS LTD is one of the UK’s leading independent firms of acoustic consultants, with a track record of prestigious and challenging projects covering the arts, commercial, leisure, residential and industrial sectors – both in the UK and worldwide. We are seeking people with consultancy experience to join our dynamic team in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. We are interested in talking to you if you are in the early stages of a career, making progress at senior level, or if you are more experienced and have been working for many years. Your role will depend on your experience. For less experienced consultants we will train you so that you can run several concurrent small - medium sized projects on your own, and be part of a small team on larger projects. More experienced staff will be supported, though where appropriate will be working self-sufficiently, providing training for others, and learning from the wider team. We encourage all staff to develop and nurture client relationships, to run their own projects, from initial enquiry and quoting through to project execution, reporting and invoicing; as well as making career progress by learning and training. In 2023, Spectrum became an Employee-Owned Trust. This means all staff are owners of the business, and we share the goals of providing great customer service, high standards of work and good employee satisfaction, with the company’s financial success shared by all staff.

APPLICANT CRITERIA:

■ We expect the successful applicant will have experience in some or all of environmental acoustics, building acoustics, industrial acoustics and building services acoustics, which might include experience in the preparation of Environmental Statements. You will be a good communicator, and be able to work on your own as well as part of a small team.

■ You should have a degree with relevant acoustics content or a general engineering degree and the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) Diploma. We’d expect staff to be TechIOA, AMIOA, MIOA or FIOA. We will support staff progressing to Engineering Council Registration.

■ You should have a full driving licence and a suitable car.

BENEFITS OF WORKING AT SPECTRUM INCLUDE:

■ Spectrum offer an attractive remuneration package, including a competitive salary, profit sharing bonus scheme, private pension scheme and private healthcare and dental care insurance. ■ We will offer a relocation allowance if appropriate.

■ We offer 5 weeks paid holiday. Time off in lieu is given to compensate for antisocial hours work. ■ Our head office in Biggleswade is a 40-minute train journey to central London, 40 minutes from London Luton airport and 30 minutes from Cambridge.

■ Staff who prefer to work from home can do so for a few days each week, although initially we would prefer them to be in the office for the majority of their time, when not on site.

■ Spectrum is an equal opportunities employer and a carbon neutral organisation.

■ Applicants should have the right to work in the UK
