The report examines conclusions from the Marine Management Organisation’s (MMO) Strategic Renewables Unit’s (SRU) project.
The project aims to progress the implementation of post-consent monitoring standards for offshore wind farms in English waters.
The project focuses on receptors where agreed standards already exist and where standardisation would be appropriate.
Underwater noise was identified as one of the six criteria best suited to standardised monitoring.
Other environmental receptors chosen were marine mammals, seabirds, benthic habitats, fish and shellfish and geophysical surveys.
The project team reviewed publications identifying best practice in collecting and reporting offshore wind monitoring data.
The document is titled "Marine licensing: Standardisation of Post-Consent Environmental Monitoring for Wind Farms in English Waters - GOV.UK".
The MMO are inviting input into improving guidance via a short online survey.
