The Welsh Government are consulting on changes to permitted development rights including air source heat pumps(ASHP). Views are sought on whether permitted development in Wales should be amended to allow greater flexibility for the installation of ASHPs, which will potentially introduce greater consistency between regulations in Wales and England. Proposals include removing the rule that an ASHP should be 3 metres from a property boundary, the volume of an AHSP be increased from 1 cubic metre to 1.5 cubic metres, consideration of allowing retrofitting of ASHPs for blocks of flats, allowing installation on walls fronting a highway. The consultation also covers electric vehicle charging points and pop up campsites. The IOA are convening a working group to consider a response. The consultation is open until July 1st.
