Midlands Branch Evening Meeting
“ANC Presentation on Sound Insulation Testing Issues”
Bob Albon - Sandy Brown Associates LLP
Thursday 12 May 2016: 18:00 for an 18:30 start
Atkins Birmingham, The Axis, (10th Floor - Conference room 3) - 10 Holliday Street, Birmingham B1 1TF

Approved Document E ‘Resistance to the Passage of Sound’ of the Building Regulations sets out the requirements for pre-completion sound insulation testing for new and converted dwellings.  Tests should be undertaken by suitably qualified testers who hold approved third-party accreditation.  Members of the ANC Registration Scheme are suitably qualified to carry out pre-completion tests, as are companies accredited by UKAS.

The ANC has prepared a presentation about sound insulation for the IOA regional branches covering:

  • a brief description of the sound insulation testing schemes;
  • the importance of build quality including a “rogues gallery” of poor constructions; and
  • sound insulation testing issues and advice including the "dos" and "don'ts" during sound insulation testing, common mistakes/errors, pitfalls to avoid and instrumentation issues.

This meeting is an opportunity to learn more (or be reminded) about good practice for sound insulation testing.

Attendance is free, no need to book, everyone welcome. CPD certificates can be provided. If you have any queries please contact fiona.rogerson@atkinsglobal.com.

As is traditional for IOA Midlands Branch meetings those attending are cordially invited for a meal at a local Indian restaurant after the meeting.
