This conference will provide insight into how the guidelines were developed and what they mean, followed by debate on the strength of the evidence base and their possible implications to the assessment and management of environmental noise in the UK in years to come.
10:00 Registration and refreshments
10:30 Welcome
12:15 Lunch
Having heard about the background to the Environmental Noise Guidelines and the information they provide, this will be your opportunity to discuss with other delegates how you might use the Guidelines.
Delegates will be divided into groups with the aim of considering such issues as:
-
How should the recommendations within the guidelines be used?
-
How are the guidelines being used?
-
Are there practical difficulties because the guidelines use the Lden indicator?
-
What is the interaction between these Guidelines and the previously published Community Noise Guidelines and the Night Noise Guidelines for Europe
This will also provide you with an opportunity to ask questions about the guidelines.
The session will conclude with feedback from the groups.
