Aerodynamic noise generated by a body in a flow can be soothing, such as the sound of an Aeolian harp, but some anthropogenic sources of flow noise cause environmental noise problems and nuisance.  Using examples such as the landing gears and wings of aircraft, pantographs and bogies on high speed trains, and design features of buildings that whistle or hum in the wind, this seminar will review the mechanisms of broadband and tonal flow noise, when and where they may occur, and how to identify and control them.
