Southern Branch invites you to a presentation on innovative ideas to control or reduce construction noise, by Wilson Ho from Wilson Ho and Associates in Hong Kong, where different case studies will be discussed. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.

“Conventional construction noise control means are being pushed to their practicable limits due to different site constraints, tight schedules and conservative noise permit systems. Various innovative noise control methods have emerged to serve the construction industry. The following cases will be presented in the seminar:

  • Magnetically attached tuned mass damper to reduce 3 and 7dB(A) from hydraulic breaker and sheet piling respectively.
  • Using an acoustic camera to identify noise leakage for tunnel portal sound insulation with -40 to 55dB(A).
  • Quick-install noise barrier up to 7m high, without the need of concrete foundation.
  • Light-weight noise enclosure that can be built quietly at night in 15 minutes.”

Wilson Ho, FHKIOA, MIOA, MHKIE, is a graduate from ISVR. He founded Wilson Acoustics Limited in 2005 to develop innovative noise control products to meet the need of his clients in construction and railway industries. He currently holds a number of noise control product patents.

The event is free to members of the IOA, as well as to students and the public. To register for this event, please go to the registration page at:
