Gerry McCullough Memorial Lecture 2023
Noise mapping, past, present and future”
Presented by Eur Ing Simon J. Shilton CEng FIOA, Acustica
Thursday 21 September 2023
4pm to 6pm (with social drinks afterwards).
Trinity College Dublin, Crossland lecture theatre, Parsons Building, Trinity College Dublin.

The event will be ‘in-person’ with the option to join remotely also for those who are pre-registered.

Strategic noise mapping in Ireland has been undertaken every five years since 2007 under the Environmental Noise Regulations. The Round 4 maps published in 2023 represent a step change in approach with the introduction of the common European method (CNOSSOS-EU) and the assessment of health impacts. The meeting will present an overview of strategic noise mapping under the Regulations, and details of the recent changes in methodology and the implementation of CNOSSOS-EU in Ireland. Looking to the upcoming noise action plans, the evidence base provided by the maps will be discussed, along with thoughts on how they may be developed further going forward.

As always, there will be a chance for a Q&A at the end of the presentation.
