Abstract:
The talk will present the outcomes of the white paper produced by the Institute of Acoustics Building Acoustics Group.
The purpose of the paper is to provide some practical and pragmatic means by which acoustics professionals can contribute through research, practical implementation, or the provision of materials with the right information to producing multi-faceted and regenerative acoustic designs, solutions, and strategies for the built environment fit to tackle the climate crisis and deliver sustainable design in practice.
A short Q&A will follow the talk.
Biography:
Ben Burgess leads the Specialist Consulting groups at Buro Happold, and has a particular interest in designing building acoustics solutions for unique, challenging or landmark developments. Particular areas of focus are cultural/performance spaces and higher education developments. Spending significant time on STEM and outreach work alongside the team’s technical projects, Ben is keen to promote the use of sustainable materials and approaches to design as well as clear, practicable communication of engineering concepts.
