Sound Unleashed: Discover, Create, Inspire!

Are you ready to turn up the volume on your creativity? The Institute of Acoustics is calling on young minds to explore the fascinating world of sound - how it works, why it matters, and the powerful role it plays in our lives every day.

This is your chance to get curious, get creative, and show the world why sound matters in life.

What’s the challenge?

Create a short, exciting video (between 1 to 5 minutes) that highlights how sound affects our lives in meaningful, everyday ways.

Possible elements to include in your video:

• Sound recordings 🎙️
• Animations or graphics 🎨
• Video clips 🎥
• Drawings ✏️
• Text, storytelling, or even a bit of AI 🤖

Digital submissions only! Excessive AI use may result in disqualification. We want your unique voice!
 

Who can enter?

There are four competition categories:

📍 Ages 13–16, UK-based

🌐 Ages 13–16, International

📍 Ages 17–25, UK-based

🌐 Ages 17–25, International

Enter individually or in a team of up to 5. All team members must fit into the same age band and reside within the same geographical location (i.e. town/city/county/region) to ensure fair competition. 

Entries can be submitted via your school, college, university, or directly. Proof of age may be requested for selected entries.

The top entries will help the IOA educate the public and may be featured in official IOA materials seen around the world. 🌍🎉
 

What’s at stake?

Each category winner will receive a £100 gift voucher awarded to each participant.

UK winners will receive an invitation to present their work at the Houses of Parliament during the Noise Abatement Society (NAS) annual awards ceremony.
If unable to attend in person, the winning presentation will be pre-recorded and showcased.

International winners will have their entry showcased at the awards ceremony as well and receive their award by courier by post.
