In responding to the govenment consultation on revisions to national policy statements for energy infrastructure, the IOA consider "the proposed changes to the NPSs look to promote good practice in the assessment of noise and vibration, with the additions making a clear contribution where additional source specific requirements are provided." The consultation includes a new section covering onshore wind turbines, which on the whole we welcome as clear and helpful. A few points are advised including amending wording to cover vibration and infrasound to read “ground-transmitted vibration, infrasound or low-frequency noise from wind turbines” Our response has been prepared by members of the Institute who are experienced practitioners in this area.
